April In The Summer

IMG_1546

I’ve been following April Soderstrom jewelry ever since one of my favorite publicists, Lacey Wilson-Bates, told me that I MUST check out this new designer for a shoot I was working on. She was right. I’ve been a fan ever since.

Her pieces are so unique and are show-stopping, like this former Miss Massachusetts contestant. Check out that fun pre-curated bracelet stack I tried on.

I met with both April and Lacey on the patio of the Grand Hyatt to see her new collection that all of the big publications were going crazy over this week.

All of April’s designs are hand made and one of a kind, so they’re like nothing else you’ve seen. You can see by the gasp on my face how amazed I was at the details like vintage beads from the 50’s and even her signature skulls hidden throughout her pieces to give it a bit of an edge. This one she dubbed the “Industrial Revolution” necklace.

IMG_1535 Her fall collection of stack-able bracelets and cuffs are actually great for all year-round and her earrings give the perfect amount of sparkle for a special event or even wedding—I suspect inspired by her pageant days.

Much of April’s collection is so wearable that you can just throw it on with nearly anything you’re wearing—the perfect everyday jewelry!

Though, the stand out pieces for me are the ones that you can tell there is a lot of skill that went into them like this hand woven beaded necklace and all of her pieces that are intricately hand sewn with beads and gems.

Lacey beautifully modeled some of my favorite stack-able cuffs that are leather with wire wrap and embellished with careful bead work.

Of course anything looks good on a couple of ladies that were vying for Miss America, but April’s pieces are versatile enough if you’re looking to accessorize with the every day jeans and a t-shirt, or that statement piece that’s perfect for not only pageants (she rents for that!), weddings, and other other special occasions.
