Dear Andi:
You have so much awesome jewelry. I just moved and am looking for tips on how to keep my jewelry organized. Right now it’s such a jumble that I end up wearing the same things because I can’t be bothered to dig. Any tips?

ANSWER:
Ah, the story of my life! So many fun things to wear and for some reason, I end up wearing the same few pieces over and over. I find the best way to keep my jewelry organized while giving more than a few pieces the love is to actually see what you have.

Normally I’m all about concealing your clutter, but in this case, jewelry is so beautiful, why not display those fun costume pieces you have? When it’s all in front of you, you’re more inclined to grab it on your way out the door. I display my baubles and bangles on heavy rotation a few different ways.

First, I find it so important to have a place to throw my jewelry at the end of the day when I’m too tired to put it away properly. I keep a few antique dishes on a tray out on my dresser that makes it easy to take off at the end of the day, without losing track of it.

I’m also a big fan of unique jewelry displays for hanging necklaces and keeping them from a tangled mess in a drawer or jewelry box. This one I purchased for $20 at a Free People store that was having a flash sale of their season’s displays. You can sign up on your local Free People’s mailing list to find out when they’re switching out their displays. If you have your eye on one this season, you can let the salesperson know to email you about that specific piece.

Another cheap and easy way to store necklaces is with hanging some ornate hooks on a wall. I recently moved, so I haven’t figured out where I want to put mine yet, but Anthropologie has quite a few great ones to choose from right now that look beautiful hanging next to a mirror or ones with many hooks that can look good on their one (as pictured).

For the rest of your costume jewelry, try one of these handy organizers from The Container Store. I use them on shoots to keep bracelets and necklaces from getting jumbled, but you can hang this in your closet so it’s in easy reach when you’re getting dressed. Now with all of your jewelry in plain sight, you’re going to realize you too have so much good stuff to work with.
