I Used To Cringe At This and Now It’s A Trend I’m Wearing

When it comes to fashion, never say never. I used to used to cringe at this and now it’s a trend I’m wearing this season. No, I’m not talking about the return of the scrunchie (I still can’t bring myself to do that again despite its high fashion comeback). I’m talking about the color combo that is everywhere this season: hot pink and red.

I vividly remember a conversation to my college friend that I would never ever ever mix pink and red together. The color combo always seemed so jarring and juvenile to me. Then again, that was back when I thought shredding up a vintage shirt and making it into a crop top was “fashion.”

Fast forward to me in my 30’s and this fall where the pink / red combo is everywhere and I’m on board. I even wore this trend recently to New York Fashion Week in a bold way. I think I’ll do it more subtly for everyday like color blocking with a pink sweater and red shoe if I’m not at NYFW.

This season it feels fresh because hot pink has elbowed “Millennial Pink” out of the way. Adding red to magenta makes it look chic and less like you’re out of the 80’s. Props to you if you can pull off adding a scrunchie too.

Would you try out the combo that Vogue Italia regards as the “new black and white?” If it’s too much for you to Jekyll & Hyde it like I did with a two-toned garment, which is also a big trend, then I suggest you take a look at my picks below and add it subtly to your wardrobe this season (ie, a pink sweater + red shoe). You can even get your feet wet with a subtle nod to the trend like I did here.

Please tag me if you try this trend out. I’d love to see how you rock this trend and will feature you if so!
