Outfits lately / life lately 🙃

Life has been 🍌 🍌 with non-stop working AND juggling a toddler at home the last few weeks.

If you haven’t been following my saga, my daughter got sent home from daycare for most of this past month and just as she was able to go back, she now has to quarantine because of exposure during one of my busiest weeks of styling… 🤪😩🤯

Soooo, the point of all this is that if I’m able to survive all this stress and put together cute outfits, you can too! (Or copy any of these to make it easy😜).

👉🏻SWIPE to get inspo and SAVE this to remember for outfit ideas this week. Which look would you copy first??👈🏻 #dailystyle

We’ve been doing it wrong all these years. 😝 We’ve been doing it wrong all these years. 😝

A lot of my clients love the look of a tied button down shirt, but feel like they can never tie it so it looks good/polished/expensive, so if you’re in that boat, try this super simple styling hack to tie your shirt next time.

You can adjust to make the “tails” shorter and it’s a great way to give yourself some shape without tucking in your top.

✨✨✨ TAG me if you try it, SAVE this to remember and SHARE with someone who needs to know ✨✨✨

[Thank you @sezane for my new fave button down and jeans!]

If you answered yes 👉🏻 then share this message and comment below.

We all need to feel less guilty for the burn out and to shift our perspective.

I’ve been so burned out the last few weeks between my daughter being sent home sick (or “sick”) from daycare for most of the time and then working non-stop and on top of that catching up every free moment for lost time… so of course, I hit my breaking point.

I’m looking back at a recent getaway with my fam and longing for more of that quality time with my kids again. I need a break and I need time. I impulsively booked another getaway and I’m counting down the days. I hope this inspires you to slow down too.

JK but seriously if you find yourself with a cheap oversized tee and don’t know what to do with it, here’s a fun hack to give it a new life and turn it into a fun $$ looking crop top.

This tee was my mom’s and it’s so sentimental that I can’t part with it, but don’t wear it because it’s SO 90’s oversized style. I decided to flip it and make it my own.

⚠️note that if you try this, it WILL stretch out the neckline, but it is worth it!⚠️

Surround yourself with friends that get you (and a Surround yourself with friends that get you (and also appreciate a day off). 😎

If you’ve been following me lately you’d know that it’s been a rough few weeks, so this was exactly the kind of break I needed.

✨ Let this be your reminder: Sometimes you need to recharge to move forward ✨

To the person who said, “you have a great and supportive husband” in response to seeing me share a solo trip after juggling work and a sick toddler at home for the last few weeks… (ps I’m also away for work):

Yes I do, but this statement is triggering to me.

A husband would never be told their wife is so supportive for letting him travel for work and having a day off with friends (who also were in need of a break).

Let’s please rethink how we comment to other women and change this standard.

Let’s not make women feel guilty for taking a break.

Let’s lift up other women for acknowledging they need to focus on themselves to be a better at their job / being a mother.

Instead maybe opt for, “enjoy your time away.” 😜

Anyone else feel like they need a break? This is your reminder and please use the comments to vent 👇🏻

The only thing harder than being a mom with a chil The only thing harder than being a mom with a child home sick, is a being a working mom with a child home sick.

If you’ve been following me the last few years, you’d know that I’ve been juggling a lot—but I know I’m not alone in this.

I received SO many messages of solidarity as my daughter was sent home from school more times than I can count this past month, and finally home sick with me the last 10 days (and it wasn’t even COVID).

Still, we managed. We made the best of it. We got through the last couple of weeks… and years… and getting COVID twice… and endless classroom closures… and phone calls to pick her up because she has signs of COVID and needs a PCR to return…

I know a lot of you are thinking, you *should* be enjoying this time. I hope more of you are rooting for us mamas that are expected to do 👏🏻it👏🏻all, but are barely surviving.

Our system is not set up for working parents—especially moms—of kids that are frequently sick (especially little ones).

Basically, what I’m saying is, if you’re going through this frustration too, just know, you’re not alone. We are warriors for doing it all during this time, even if we’re not doing it well.

If you need to give yourself grace, this is the message I have had in my email signature since 2020 and it STILL applies:

PLEASE NOTE THAT I'M A WORKING MOM IN A PANDEMIC AND WILL LIKELY BE DELAYED IN RESPONDING TO MY EMAILS. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING

✨Share that message with some who may need to hear it ✨

p.s. this is also my way to say if you emailed me recently, please be patient with my response.

This is one of my fave hacks that I use on models, actors and even “real” talent on photoshoots and especially on video when there’s someone potentially sweating!

They do sell sweat guards (they’re like maxi pads but wider), but I find pads to be more cost effective if you tend to need them a lot. Liners work well if it’s a thinner garment too. Of course I get the more eco-friendly ones for my styling kit.

Would you try it?

This is one of the top questions I’ve been getti This is one of the top questions I’ve been getting this summer so had to share here.

Linen is my ultimate favorite fabric for summer because it’s:
✨Breathable
✨Sustainable
✨Affordable
✨Always looks luxe, especially in neutrals

TIPS ON WEARING LINEN
(be sure to SAVE and SHARE with a friend):

✨Only use heat IF you want to shrink linen—it shrinks easily in hot water and dryer)

✨Linen should have a loose fit, never too fitted

✨ Wash on cold and gentle cycle

✨Hang dry, always

✨Steam your linen to get rid of creases and soften (not iron, which I do on shoots if it fits the brand, but it’s not my vibe), which is the look you want for the fabric

✨Quality linen = wrinkles easily

✨Embrace the wrinkle

✨If you can’t get behind having soft wrinkles, then opt for a linen blend

✨Linen is acceptable anytime as long as the weather is warm (store your linen for the crisp fall weather)

What other style questions can I answer for you here?😏

Can you believe we got these shots despite meltdow Can you believe we got these shots despite meltdowns and impending rain??

@michellerosephoto always works magic and it makes such a difference than when we try to take pics ourselves. These are photos we’ll cherish forever and actually print/frame!!

Here are some of my other tips to getting the most out of family photos:

✨ PLAN AHEAD. I lay out all of our clothes and shoot it on my phone prior to the shoot to make sure it all looks good together.

✨COORDINATE BUT DON’T MATCH. As much as I’m a sucker for mommy-and-me looks, it’s also nice to pick a color scheme instead. This one I opted for shades of yellows and neutrals.

✨AVOID BLACK. It can reflect dark shadows on faces and be too heavy for the shots.

✨MIX UP PATTERNS, TEXTURES AND SOLIDS. Make sure everyone isn’t all in solids or all patterns so break it up with texture and interest.

✨PREP YOUR OUTFITS. Make sure to steam your clothes, check for stains (less retouching!) and make sure everyone is happy with what they will wear.

✨CONSIDER PROPS. laying out a blanket or tarp (this is a canvas drop cloth) to help give a sense of environment and brighten a space beyond just a plain background.

✨BREAK OUT TOYS. An experienced photographer will know how to direct and get kids to cooperate to get the shot but a shaker is a great way to get their attention too.

[SAVE this to remember for a future shoot with kids and SHARE if you love!]
