Black & White & Pastel Done Right

I still can’t stop thinking about my recent trip to NOLA and all of the beautiful colors, architecture and details that are inspiring me in both my wardrobe and in my home.

The people of the Big Easy made working with pastels look, well, easy. They even got it right with otherwise sweet colors mixed with some black trim and accents, which made it look a bit more polished. Take note in your own looks.

I even want to paint a scene from the city, like this beautiful home in the Garden District on the wall of my new backyard. Can you tell that I want to take everything about New Orleans and bring it home with me? Well, almost everything—my shellfish allergy there didn’t go over so well…

STYLIST TIP: Not into this season’s pastel trend? Try it with baby steps by mixing some of neutral pieces like denim and chambray, along with an edgier accent with black in it. Promise you’ll feel less like a ballerina and more like you’re right on trend!
