Leifsdottir top (customized) / C&C California dress / Cambridge Satchel bag / Aldo shoes / etc… bracelet and ring / H&M bracelet
This bold patterned top you won’t find anywhere at the moment (sorry ladies!), but you can follow my lead and make your own to add a little something to an otherwise simple dress.
I was working on a TV commercial recently with the popular fashion blogger, Lindsey Calla of Saucy Glossie, and found a great Leifsdottir dress for her to wear, but the pattern was too bold and needed something to break it up. We had the tailor chopped off the top of the dress and customized the skirt.
When I saw the left over scrap of the dress in the trash, I knew it was such a shame to waste it! When I suggested to the tailor she should make a bolero top out of it for herself, she loved the idea and instead surprised me with this top as a gift to me.
STYLIST TIP: Never settle for a garment the way it is. If something’s not fitting or working for your lifestyle, don’t be afraid to take it to the tailor. You’ll be surprised how you can resurrect something collecting dust in your closet and a little reworking can do wonders. Get your pants, skirts, dresses hemmed to the length you’d more likely wear them. A vintage dress can be made modernized with a few nips and tucks.
