Gold Rush

Sunnies: Anna Dello Russo for H&M (only $35!!) | top: Helmut Lang (TJMaxx) | bracelets: c/o Beth Lauren, etc… | ring: Sonya Renne | iPhone case: J.Crew

I’ve always admired Anna Dello Russo‘s over-the-top style and eye for fashion, but when I heard the “fashion maniac,” as Helmut Newton once described, designed a lower-priced line of accessories for an H&M collaboration, I thought it would be totally overrated.

Then I saw the gorgeous editorial campaign and the lookbook (modeled by Anna herself) released a month or so ago and started to make my shopping list, which included a bracelet that was only $35 but looks at least 4 times that price!

I just happened to have a minute to pop into H&M while I just wrapped GMA and in between showroom appointments to prep for Boston Weddings Magazine to check it out. I’m not sure why this seemed to be so under the radar, but I wasn’t complaining when I saw it was fully stocked on its second day with only a handful of shoppers.

Much of the jewelry is priced between $35 – $60, which is pretty reasonable considering they look much more expensive. I wasn’t too sure about the quality of the shoes to spend the price tag on those, but I will say I was extremely tempted by the gold metal clutch for $99…but passed it up for the $35 sunglasses.

If you’re into snakes and other exotic animals, then you may be tempted by Anna’s Garden of Gold. Even these sunglasses had green-eyed-jeweled serpents on the sides.

If you’re into just simple opulence, there’s plenty for you as well—as long as you don’t mind being guilded in gold. Clearly, I don’t.
