How To Wear Bows (and still look cool)

I guess you can say my style is feminine but with an edge. I’m not overly girly and if I’m going to wear something floral or “sweet” it better have something that balances it out like black, a funky 70’s silhouette, or an unexpected shoe.  Girly bows are everywhere this season from hair accessories to adorned on shoes. Here’s how to wear bows (and still look cool) this season: It’s all about balance.

This floral bow blouse was a steal on Shopbop and I’ve been wearing it on repeat because not only can it be thrown in the wash (#momlife) but the black piping toughens up this otherwise overly saccharin pattern. I mostly mix it with my favorite high waisted black skinny jeans but you can’t go wrong with a good mom jean for spring (that I probably wear a bit TOO much) either.

I recently went to the press preview of Bill Blass’ new shoe collection designed by Chris Benz and actually fell in love with all of the bow shoe designs (see more at the end of this post). I think it’s the frayed edges that make it a bit cooler than your average bow.

My blogger friend Jessica of “The Steele Maiden” always nails the bows in her looks so well and always manages to look chic, but not immature, with a bow in her hair.

I love how my new blogger friend Laura of “About The Outfits” does feminine bows as well. Her style is a bit more girly than mine but she pulls it off so well.

How would you wear a bow this season?
