Alice & Olivia has been known to present a whimsical presentation at New York Fashion Week, filled with celebrities and showgoers looking to see the romantic mood designer Stacey Bendet created for her collection that season. For fall/winter 2014, “Enchanted: A Midwinter Night’s Dream” was the theme and what more of a perfect setting than at the McKittrick Hotel, an old warehouse converted to a 1930’s style hotel for the Hitchcock-meets-Shakespeare interactive play, Sleep No More.
While the setting may have been fairytale-like, the collection was quite wearable and sophisticated for the brands otherwise girly roots, with tailored and fur pieces, brocades, tweeds, Victorian details and even bohemian silhouettes and fabrics. Animal print details even made a comeback for fall after a long hiatus.
In line with what seems to be a trend to anticipate for fall, it seems that “metallic is the new black” this season for Alice & Olivia with much sheen to the fabrics and gold being prevalent. The standout accessories were the thigh high boots with zipper edge, which created just enough sass and sexiness to the romantic collection.
