Styling Secret: Preserving Boots Part II

Here are a few additional tips that may save your favorite boots from previous seasons:

Marc by Marc Jacobs Boots (Barney’s Warehouse Sale)

These once were the nicest boots I owned, but then they got worn out year after year. A couple of new soles (or souls?) later and I’m still resurrecting them. You’d be surprised what a little shoe polish can do. Cue the infomercial…

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, you can purchase shoe polish in the color of your shoes or boots at your local drug store or shoe repair. In a circular motion, sponge on the polish—little polish goes a long way—and let dry. Then, using a shoe polish cloth, buff away to shine up your boots.

Before (from last year’s harsh winter) & After (yet another season with these beauties)

Marc by Marc Jacobs Boots

I actually have yet to have worn these over-the-knee suede boots (they were a gift I received just as the warm weather hit last year) and just by storing them in my closet, they look like they’ve seen better days.

A suede brush will bring these back to life instantly (You can also pick up a shoe brush where you purchase shoe polish).

Some of you told me you use tissue paper or newspaper to stuff your boots. If wine bottles don’t fit, I also like to stuff my boots with plastic bags to reuse them.

Voila! Like new again.

Please share your own shoe tricks!
