This past weekend was my first time hanging out in Harlem during my six years of living in NYC, believe it or not. The reason I trekked all the way up to 125th Street from Brooklyn was to eat at one of my favorite restaurants founded in Syracuse, now located locally, Dinosaur BBQ. Even as a vegetarian, I’ve been kind of obsessed with everything about the place.
The main difference between the Syracuse and Harlem outposts is the vibe. I was prepared for the honky-tonk biker bar that I remembered—hence the leather jacket—but was surprised that it was nothing of the sort. Somehow they turned it into a swanky city version of the place.
Nevertheless, I was prepared for any kind of atmosphere with a light weight dress, tights, boots, and layered with my go-to leather jacket—especially when our 3:30pm “linner” reservation for eight people turned into the evening.
C’mon, help me get the idea of late lunch/early dinner to catch on. Brunch gets all the glory.
