Better To Be Over Dressed

dress: Parker (scored at Rent The Runway sample sale, different color online) / sunglasses: Warby Parker / shoes: Plenty by Tracy Reese / necklace: c/o Beth Lauren / bracelet: etc… / ring and bag: vintage

Normally I don’t make impulsive buys when it comes to a new frock, but I happened to go to the Rent The Runway sample sale during the week and scored this great Parker dress that had my name all over it for about 80% off.

I also needed something fun to wear to a bridal shower this weekend anyway, though I may have been slightly overdressed for an afternoon in a bar & grill on Long Island. It worked out because I ended up getting invited to cocktails later that evening in the Village. I always say it’s better to be over-dressed than under-dressed because you never know!

STYLIST TIP: Slips are not just for old ladies! Trust me. It helps you avoid static cling, surprisingly see-through skirts, and any embarrassing Marilyn Monroe moments. You will also find the extra layer can actually look more slimming because it smooths out everything. Invest in half and full slips in both nude and black (this black one is from Zara, but most of mine are from TJMaxx and Target). I even keep a bag of these in my styling kit!
