Now that it’s really November, I guess I should come to terms with bundling up every day. I’m so happy that cozy capes are EVERYWHERE this season, because they may be my favorite way to do so.
Okay, so this awesome number from my favorite Brooklyn-based menswear, Alexander Campaz, designer is not my typical bohemian-vintage-rock’n’roll-chic style, but when I saw it, I knew it had to be mine! Alex’s original intention was to sell it to his usual male customer, but was surprised when I put it on how it works for anyone. Soon, he was bombarded with fashionable men AND women, like yours truly, buying them quicker than he can make!
His capes—along with his entire color-blocking cool collection—are made locally with recycled, dead stock, and organic fabrics. Oh, and did I mention nothing is over $100?!
Speaking of rad capes that are taking the fashion world by storm this season, I’m drooling over the unique poncho capes by Jennifer Stewart of JSDNYC that she just debuted this season. Like Alexander Campaz, these capes are handmade in NY with recycled and dead stock fabrics and are now selling out quicker than she expected. Better get your hands on one of these before the limited run of them is gone! The striped one totally has my name on it.
STYLIST TIP: WHEN WEARING SOMETHING BULKY ON TOP LIKE A CAPE OR PONCHO, MAKE SURE TO BALANCE YOUR SILHOUETTE OUT WITH A SLIMMER BOTTOM. OTHERWISE, YOU MAY AS WELL WEAR YOUR DOWN COMFORTER OUT OF THE HO– USE.
