Hidden Gems (Literally)

I’m not sure how I’ve lived in NYC for over eight years now and did not know about the Museum of Art and Design (aka MAD) until recently thanks to my fashion friend/partner in crime, Emily of E.Kammeyer jewelry and the Accessories Gal blog. Maybe it’s because I generally don’t go above 14th street unless it’s Fashion Week or another work obligation, but this was definitely worth the trip up to Columbus Circle.

There are two noteworthy exhibitions that  you’re not going to want to miss if you are lucky enough to be in the area:

The Fashion Jewelry exhibition with The Collection of Barbara Berger and Out of Hand: Materializing the Postdigital with everything from fashion to furniture printed with 3D printers (for real!).

The jewelry exhibition features an array of unique designer pieces from Chanel to YSL, all from one women’s collection is incredible and as you can see by our pictures, a bit of fun. It closes on April 20th, so run to this museum before it closes.

Bonus: go there on a Sunday and catch one of the resident artists in action in their open studios. You can also enjoy drinks and bites on the restaurant on the top floor, overlooking Columbus Circle. This is a hidden gem in NYC that you should definitely check out and if you can’t, below is a sampling of the incredible collections currently on view there.
