Mad Women

“Andi” and my grandfather, 1963

“Andi”, 1967

I’m pretty addicted to the AMC show, Mad Men. I’m not sure about you, but I’m loving that this season takes place in 1967 and the fashions begin to drastically change from the earlier part of the decade.

I found these images of my mother, “Andi” from just four years apart during this era, and you can really see how the prim and proper look of the early 60’s quickly transformed to the swingin’ 60’s as the culture became more relaxed in what was formerly taboo.

The costume designer of the show, Janie Bryant, captured this shift fashion on the show and talks about it more here. I can’t wait to see more of the fun colors, prints and silhouettes this season, like in the scene with the party and that mini dress that Megan wore with the sheer accordion pleated bell sleeves…swoon.

Is it Sunday night at 10pm yet??
