Deviating from his previous collections that were influenced by places, Siriano developed his collection around a specific person, Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn in the 1950’s, a former muse of both of her photographer husbands, Fernand Fonssagrives and Irving Penn.
The show wowed with models circling around lampposts setting the mood. It was as if you are watching moving photographs of these photographers to a soundtrack of Siriano’s partner, Brad Walsh, who as usual, attended the show adorned in a custom shirt with Siriano’s “it” pattern of the season.
The collection itself was cohesively the strongest in his career. While we saw quite a bit of what Siriano built his brand on, evening wear in feminine and flouncy silhouettes and even feathers, the standouts of the show were a “My Fair Lady” style floor-length dress and hat combo, ball gowns in a futuristic marbleized fabric and dresses with dare I say sexy sheer laser cut outs. His loyal customers will come running to the Elizabeth Street boutique for what he’s been improving on in each season, wearable day-time separates like leather jackets and now alpaca coats.
