NYFW Fall 2014: Ruffian

For such a small collection, Ruffian created quite a theatrical show early in the morning at Lincoln Center with a dramatic version of Blondie’s “Rapture” meets monastery monks as a soundtrack. The silks with voluminous silhouettes and Elizabethan collars added to theatrics that were inspired by art in the 1400’s, veering quite far away from their usual youthful tone.

The color palette was strong with striking combinations like red Hue tights mixed with powder blue against a muted and dark backdrop. Standout pieces were drawstring pants in digital print crepe and metallic boucle, metallic quilted jackets and suiting in moire printed jacquard. Of course the Ruffian for Stetson hats atop the dramatic looks stole the show.
