#NYFW Recap: Christian Siriano / @CSiriano

DearAndi_ChristianSiriano_03

Please excuse the poor quality iPhone snap, but it was so hot—both literally and figuratively—at Christian Siriano’s spring 2014 show on Saturday that I moved to the very top of the stands so my wide legged Siriano pants weren’t sticking to my legs in the tropic-like heat at the tropic-like temperatures at Eyebeam in Chelsea.

The audience fanned themselves with anything they could get a hold of, as they oo-ed and aah-ed over each look that came out of straw huts, emulating Christian’s inspiration for the season, Mexico. The look with the patterned structural top with matching pencil skirt was a favorite among the crowd. It happened to have mimicked the pattern that Christian’s newly engaged DJ partner, Brad Walsh, wore in his custom suit as he mixed tunes that were some of his best yet for the show.

Stand out looks of the collection included ethnic patterned crop tops and matching lady-like skirts, a yellow breezy dress worn over matching pants, and ostrich feathered evening wear, perfect for the avant-garde summer bride. If she dares, a matching feathered coat. The shoes, produced by Payless, were as always, the talk of the town and were as equally exciting as the clothing.

In true Christian fashion, the final looks shied away from the easy ready to wear pieces featured at his shop in NYC and they showed off what he’s really known for, the drama of a show-stopping, nearly couture garment.
