The Style Gene

“Andi”‘s mother—my grandmother, Selma, circa 1920’s-30’s

While I normally post an image each week of my mother, “Andi,” and her style from back in the day that is current/inspiring for my own looks today, I couldn’t resist sharing this photograph of another style icon of mine, my own grandmother.

I just had dinner with my dear friend Rachel of Nona E. Rose tonight, who’s accessories line namesake happens to be from both of her grandmother’s names. I realized how influenced we are by our ancestors and wondered, does good taste run in the family?

I would totally wear this gorgeous gown today. I love that my grandmother even belted it like I would (probably with a Nona E. Rose belt!). It’s also funny that just two days ago Who What Wear posted that celebs are rocking a sheer sleeve lately like I did this past New Years and Selma did nearly a century ago! Grandma’s a trend setter.
