While fall looms near, I think I forgot how to dress for the transition season. I’m not quite ready to give up my cute little summer dresses like these ones from JSDNYC.
The talented designer, Jennifer Stewart, created this custom one from vintage lace just for yours truly. She scours the country to salvage vintage fabrics to make her collection and creates pieces that have a flair from the 40’s up until the 90’s with a Williamsburg vibe. I’m currently drooling over the stripe and trendy polka dot tops that can be purchased online.
My go to way of dealing with the in between weather? The wardrobe staple: the blazer.
EVERY sensible stylista should own at least one in their arsenal! I probably own too many, but they’re the easiest way to polish up a casual outfit. It’s probably one of the few items I always splurge on because of this.
STYLIST TIP: If you’re going to wear a tight skirt or dress, balance out the proportions with a looser fitting top or jacket (and vice versa). That way you look more Grace Kelly than Kelly Bundy. If you do prefer the all tight look, opt for a flat shoe to keep it looking classy.
Love the examples…. and that jacket reminds we of the asymetrical Alexander McQueen jackets. Thanks for the post. Keep them coming!!
