3 Items I’m Incorporating Into My Winter Wardrobe

Sweater dress: TJMaxx Runway (similar here or more options below!) | Waist belt bag: Shana Luther (c/o, use code NYSTYLIST for 15% off!) | Boots: Zara | Scarf: Free People

It’s only November and we went straight from Halloween to the holidays. It’s all of a sudden sweater season but I’m not quite ready to give up my dresses yet. I also find that whether I’m shopping for my shoots or for holiday gifts this season, I want to have less layers and my hands free. That’s why this season these are the 3 items I’m incorporating into my winter wardrobe: sweater dresses, belt bags and chunky scarves.

1. THE SWEATER DRESS

What’s better than a cozy sweater? How about one that covers more of you! I scored the designer one I’m wearing here from TJMaxx in the Runway section, which is like finding a hidden gem, but unfortunately I can’t link for all you guys that DM’d me about it Instagram recently. The good news is that there are a ton out there right now including this navy maxi sweater dress that’s very similar to the one I’m wearing here and this sweater dress that’s under $25. I plan on pairing my sweater dresses with booties and tights, especially Uniqlo HeatTech tights for winter, though I’m always a fan of the OTK boot with dresses if you’re night a tights person. Of course don’t be afraid to dress it down with a sneaker, especially when you’re running around getting all of your holiday shopping done.

2. THE BELT BAG

This isn’t totally a new item for me as you’ve seen me wear a belt bag here before this past year, but it’s a trend that’s still going strong. I wear one on my shoots to carry all my on set stying essentials. It makes sense to carry my essentials while being hands free when I’m prepping for shoots or on the playground with my little one as well. I’m really into this waist bag by Shana Luther Handbags. Shana happens to be designer and mom that lives in my Brooklyn hood—so no surprise I want everything in her collection! She has a classic style waist bag if you want to ease into this trend, but I couldn’t resist the very on trend cheetah print.

Lucky for you, my readers get 15% off with the code NYSTYLIST on Shana Luther Handbags so you can score a belt bag for you in time to be hands free for Black Friday. These baby booties also make an adorable gift, as well as this glittery pouch that’s perfect for the girl that has everything.

3. THE CHUNKY SCARF

I polled you guys on Instagram recently on where you get your scarves from. The vast majority of you said Zara (I’m with you guys) and a few of you said Anthropologie (which is $$). I bought a ton of scarves recently for this adorable holiday shoot I styled.

After this I came to the conclusion: Free People makes THE best chunky scarves. Whether I scored them at discount stores or direct from the store, everyone on the shoot went crazy for them, including me. I ended up buying one for myself but am tempted to get it in every color. I love that can wrap it around me when I’m cold and it’s like a fashionable blanket as the temperatures drop.
