No, I wasn’t back home in Brooklyn with this graffiti; I ventured over to SoHo for Rebecca Minkoff’s denim pop-up shop last night at 96 Greene Street.
RM is known for her stylish bags that are both functional (like her original design, which she dubbed “Morning After Bag.”), but in recent years she’s been branching out to other accessories and ready to wear. Now she’s conquering the world of jeans and in true Minkoff style, she brought along all of her stylish followers, also known as “Minkettes.”
This collection was called “What I like About Blue”—which is why party-goers received a rubber bracelets with the phrase on it—with mostly shades of blue with some summery neutrals mixed in. This is the kind of collection that suits weekenders from downtown to the Hamptons.
While I was coveting the blue and white printed jeans that RM wore herself and that the whole shop felt more downtown than SoHo itself, what I loved most about the new collection was that a donation will be made to the organization “No Kid Hungry,” which will feed up to 20 meals to a child in need with a purchase of the jeans.
On my way out of the event, I noticed “it” model Coco Rocha stopped to take some pictures with the press and upon my snapping this iPhone pic, realized there was the glowing RM looking pretty chic in her new design.
Speaking of chic designs, I scored these kicks at the Helmut Lang sample sale in SoHo in between a fitting, running around SoHo for another job, and this event. While the women were digging through the brand’s signature blazers and leggings, these heels called my name—and for half of the price of the original.
