Classic 70s—Polyester Not Included

Elizabeth & James blazer (Loehmann’s); Cynthia Rowley cashmere sweater (Christmas gift from Marshall’s); Levi’s jeans; Frye “Paige Cuff” boots; TopShop driving gloves; Rebecca Minkoff bag (Century 21); etc… custom necklace and braided watchband bracelet (By Brooklyn); 1970’s vintage hat (Spooky Boutique by Ricky Berger at Artists & Fleas).  /  photos by Joshua Boccheciamp

In addition to being inspired by my hippie mother’s vintage style from back in the day (hence, the blog name, Dear Andi), I find I’m usually channeling some 70’s fashion icon. There’s something about that decade where fashion still looks chic today—polyester aside.

Whether it’s Lauren Hutton’s playful take on menswear, Stevie Nicks’ free spirit style, Jerry Hall’s feminine grace, Carly Simon’s bohemian looks (who I met while in her music video and gushed to her how much I admire her!), mixed with a little Debbie Harry rock edge, I love taking their fashion cues from the era and making them my own.

    1. It’s actually a antique stone I found that I wire wrapped. I do make jewelry with antique cameos in them (currently selling at a shop called By Brooklyn). Can’t wait to check out yours!
