NYFW – Objects of My Affection

I recently met the designers of ELEVEN OBJECTS while styling an editorial and I was so impressed with the way they take an ordinary detail of clothing—the collar—and make it a detailed focal point of an outfit. They continued to impress with their innovative collar-sleeve duo that totally transforms a top. When they invited me to their fall presentation, I wasn’t sure what to else to expect from the accessories duo, Linh Thi and Christine.

To my surprise, they put on a show, creating head to toe looks that had more focal points than just around the neck. Each of the eleven looks (clever!) corresponded with the romantic string quartet playing in the background—a refreshing change of pace from the boomboomboomboom DJ’ed shows all week.

From peplum skirt toppers, to gold foil adornment, to fur and leather trim; to unexpected zippers, there was definitely a lot to mix and match. The peacock palette was divine, but not much else said “fall.” Though, lucky for us, you can where a sequined collar all year round.

Below are some of my highlights from the presentation:

On another note, it was so cold in the land of fashion, NYC, that everyone was bundling up today, including myself. Hats are my go-to cold weather accessory and I’m so excited that they’re popping up all over the runway for this fall—especially the over-sized hat party that was the runway at Marc Jacobs.

Vintage cape coat (Spooky Boutique); vintage hat (Gypsy Nation); Gap sweater; BDG mens shirt and Sparkle & Fade skirt (both at Urban Outfitters); Fiorentini + Baker boots; Rebecca Minkoff bag; Alex & Ani bracelets; etc… watchband bracelets; vintage necklace; Vanessa Mooney rings c/o; other rings, vintage.
