Fall came out of nowhere in NYC this year. I went from one day schvitzing while running around from show to show for New York Fashion Week in the late summer heat to finding myself in 3 layers and a scarf while on an early morning location shoot the following week. Dressing for this weird in-between season always confuses me and unlike those who work in offices or commute in their cars, I have no place to store my extra just-in-case clothing during the days. Between NYFW and now, I tend to dress “season neutral” to be ready for any weather.

It works in my favor to keep my wardrobe fairly season neutral this time of year because it’s a chance to keep wearing those pieces I love from late summer and also try out the trends that I’m predicting for next spring.

The biggest trend I’m predicting, is all things graphic and white. Like I’ve said in the past, the rules of wearing white after Labor Day are for your grandparents. Of course don’t wear it in summery fabrics like seersucker or linen, but keep rocking that white. Just make sure you bring your umbrella with all the rain we’re getting. Thanks Joaquin.

So go ahead, and keep wearing or score on sale now those white off-the-shoulder tops I’ve been telling you guys about last season and wore here by Tibi, who’s bringing it back again for spring 2016.

To make it more season neutral, mix your bright whites with edgier black pieces and metallics, which are so on trend for this season. I’ve been obsessed with this bag by Joanna Maxham which she’s doing in silver this season. It’s the perfect size/shape/style bag for every day and while it comes in neutrals like black and cognac, the silver is really the most neutral color believe it or not. It seriously goes with nearly everything you probably own and gives a fresh take on your accessories. I can’t tell you how many times it’s gotten noticed in the few weeks I’ve been wearing it. Sure the Chloe “Faye” bag may be the “it” bag of the season, but it’s not something you’re going to be wearing every day for years to come.  At its mid-range price point, this is a season neutral investment piece to splurge on now and wear later too.

Lastly, lace up flats have been having a major moment thanks to these Aquazzura ones, but as with anything super trendy, I opt for more affordable versions (see below), which if they last for the season, that’s great but I plan on wearing them into spring as well.

Check out my picks for all things white and graphic coming for spring 2016 and shop this style on sale now below to stay “season neutral” and get the most out of your wardrobe.
