I wore this outfit last week while taking the hubby out to dinner for his birthday and it occurred to me—while sweating in the Brooklyn summer heat—that I’ll probably be still wearing these pieces that are on trend this season come fall. While I don’t think you should give in to what’s “trendy,” these are the summer trends to wear into fall and look like they’re sticking around:

The off-the-shoulder top has made appearances on bloggers and fashionistas since last September, but I have a feeling you’re going to keep on seeing it. It’s sexy without being showy and it pairs perfectly with all of the high-waisted flared/wide leg jeans you’ll be running out to get this coming season.

I’m not saying throw out your skinny jeans, but there will be new denim in your life now. If you just don’t feel bold enough for that denim trend, try it in a denim skirt. I scored this one from H&M because I wasn’t sure how much longer I can get away with short mini skirts, which are totally back by the way. I loved it so much that I ended up splurging on one from my favorite cool girl site at the moment, Reformation.

Pointy flats will also be in your vocab from now into fall. Lucky for you, they’re both comfy and stylish, and will hide the pedicure you haven’t done in weeks.

Can you believe it’s almost September? What will you be wearing from this summer into fall?
