The Most Fun Shoes Of Summer

Summer may be the most “fun” of all the seasons because there’s so much to do and people take the time off to do it all. From after work drinks on roof tops, dinner al fresco, strolls through the city with nitro cold brews, staying in the city can be magical when much of the locals flee for the coast and other vacation plans.

This summer is the first summer I didn’t make any big travel plans because I’m home with a newborn. I didn’t even think I’d leave the house for a while to be honest. I thought maternity leave would consist of staying in my pajamas and catching up on Netflix shows. Was I wrong about that! With a new baby in the summer, there are so many excuses to get out of the house.

I partnered with the popular shoe brand Donald J. Pliner this summer to try out this luxe embellished sandal, interpreting the “Art of Fun” in my own way. I don’t get out for much “fun” these days, but the other weekend was jam packed with events for me so it definitely warranted a “fun” but still comfy shoe.

We started off with the baby’s first trip to Manhattan to go to an art gallery in SoHo that I’ve wanted to check out for years. It was where my doulas hosted an amazing event for all of their clients they attended the births of this past year and beyond. Our baby was one of the newest additions so it was a bit overwhelming, but it was so cool to see all of the lives they affected recently in one room. It was also a great excuse to get dressed up a bit more than my daily wardrobe. These DJP slides dressed up my go-to all-black city look, but still be casual enough for a Saturday afternoon. They were also perfect for walking around with a baby as we of course didn’t get to park all that close to the event.

After that event, the hubby dropped me off (solo!) in Downtown Brooklyn for my girl Emily‘s fabulous spa day birthday party that her husband threw her at their penthouse apartment over-looking the city. It was my first time ever being away from the baby, so it was incredibly overwhelming, but this mama couldn’t pass up a massage, manicure, gourmet bites and girl time. Being Emily and most of her gal pals work in fashion, I knew I had to step it up from my daily “mom look,” so these sandals definitely made the cut—and also distracted from the fact that I was in desperate need of a pedicure!

The hubby eventually came by the party with the baby and I was back to mom-mode, but I still have to admit that I felt glamorous in these shoes despite toting around a baby. They’ve since become a staple in my wardrobe this summer, easy to slip on and dress up the most casual of looks… even if my most exciting event of the day is my morning stroll to get coffee with my baby in tow.

Get these fabulous shoes (on MAJOR sale, seriously get on the waitlist if not available!) and other trendy summer styles to dress up your look before they sell out!
