While prepping for a shoot in a suburban mall this past week, I realized that people sometimes forget to put care into how they dress nowadays. I long for the era when people dress up to travel or even go shopping.
I love this image of my father from possibly back in the 40’s or 50’s in Florida. While he may have dressed up for a special occasion like a Bar-Mitzvah, the fact that he had a suit complete with a pocket square on made him look like he’s ready for anything.
I’m not saying we all have to wear suits and our Sunday’s best, but when someone steps it up in their wardrobe (ie, no sweats or running sneakers outside the gym or home), they instantly appear more put together.
STYLIST TIP: My motto is it’s always better to look overdressed than underdressed. You never know who you may run into or where you may end up. Worst comes to worst, people think you have some place better to go.
