As I’m getting older I’m looking at my wardrobe differently. I no longer buy into what’s trendy, but what I’m going to get the most wear out of. If a garment can be worn multiple ways, then for me, it’s often worth getting.
If we are talking trends though, denim is a huge one for this spring. Many designers on the spring runways were featuring wide leg versions of their pants, and I especially am loving the more affordable version from White House Black Market this season. The trouser silhouette is a sophisticated denim that you can dress up and down. With a blazer, denim becomes acceptable work wear, but then style it with more casual pieces and it’s a totally new outfit. It’s also a bonus that the lines of the trouser make you appear leaner and taller (case in point, the glamazon model next to me!).
The best part is that while this denim is totally on trend (yes, the 70’s inspired style is here to stay!), it’s a classic piece that doesn’t scream trendy, so you’ll get more mileage out of it, season after season.
Check out the video above I shot recently with WHBM and more on their revamped site. Just to warn you, you’re going to want to shop the entire spring collection like I was doing on this shoot. Stay tuned for my other picks from their spring collection.
