Okay, never mind that there’s snow up to my knees out there on the streets of NYC right now. After the second biggest blizzard to hit the city this weekend, I foresee snow boots in my future, but as soon as it all melts—or like I wore today after I got inside and stripped off my snow boots—gals like me are going to be living in this shoe trend.

The new shoe style you will want is not only a comfy alternative to your heels and even your flats, but they’re more flattering and polish any outfit. Some may call them “grandma heels,” but they’re more affectionately known as low block heels.

While I admire the cutesy fashion girls a la Taylor Swift who can rock a flat, it’s just not me. On the other spectrum, I can’t wear stilettos in my lifestyle and job. These heels are practical, but are a fun way to elevate even a casual pair of girlfriend jeans. Speaking of which, I can’t believe I actually bought a pair of Levi’s 501’s, which I owned maybe 20 years ago. What comes around, goes around in fashion, so if you can’t go shopping in your mom or grandma’s closet, you’re going to love some of these picks below.

Reformation coat // Lands’ End sweater // Zara cashmere scarf //  Levi’s jeans // Jeffrey Campbell x Free People heels // Bailey hat //  Chloe bag // Crockett Henderson custom fur bag charm // Gorjana ring and cuff, and Sophie Harper ring via Rocksbox (c/o
