I know, it’s been winter for like a minute over hear on the east coast, but with the impending snowpocalypse storm of the century coming this week, I’m ready for spring and already over my winter wardrobe. My closet and I are in a mid-winter rut.
Here’s how I’m combating the elements with a fresh look this season and you can easily (and affordably) update your winter style too:
1) Update your coat with a detachable faux fur collar. My husband actually asked if I bought a new coat when he saw me wear this over my favorite camel coat of over a decade!
2) Go shorter with your jeans and show off those boots. Seriously. I know, in the past this was totally dorky, but really it is a great update to what we’ve seen in the past. You’re wearing your gorgeous boots all winter, so why not show them off, right? If you don’t want to spend the money on a new pair of jeans, cut off the hems for a DIY version of the popular frayed jean look going on right now (I’m obsessed with this pair right now).
3) Chop off your hair. Apparently some of you thought my hair was always this short, but this is a good 4 or so inch chop that was so scary for me, but feels so refreshing. I’m not saying you have to go get the popular cut of 2014, “the lob” or long bob, but try giving your long locks a break for a healthier, modern look.
4) Add some spring colors into your winter gear. Pastels and winter whites are a great way to brighten up your look this winter when you’re surrounded by a sea of sad, dark colors for the season. Try it with an accessory like this bag if you’re not ready to commit to a pastel coat or white outfit.
Love the shorter hair!!! Looks FAB!
